In 1973 Mrs Kay Anderson and her four-year-old daughter were living in Germany where her husband was stationed in Dattelen at Haard Kaserne. In her correspondence with Andrew MacKenzie she described a periodic 'haunting'. A figure that Mrs Anderson thought might be a ghost would appear in her entrance hall where he could see into all of the rooms. Mrs Anderson described the figure as tired; he seemed to be waiting for something. He wore a long dark coat. Interestingly, Mrs Anderson said that she could only see the man out of the corner of her eye and not when looking at him directly, though she did get the impression that he smiled occasionally. She tried to speak with the figure in English, French and German but without success. Even several years later Mrs Anderson believed that the figure might still be there watching or waiting as she had a feeling of sadness still around her. Mrs Anderson had other experiences. She had apparently had what she described as 'flashes' since she was a teenager and these seemed to increase after a minor head injury. She described them as being an impression rather than anything as definite as pictures or voices. She hoped that she would be able to develop the ability she seemed to be attaining. Mrs Anderson's experience following a minor head injury is one that regularly occurs in psychic phenomena. For example, the Dutch psychic Peter Hurkos seems to have acquired extraordinary clairvoyant powers after a serious fall from a ladder and a period in a coma.
